Martha's Chocolate-Black Pepper Cookies

Martha Stewart loves black pepper.  She loves it so much that she put a ton of it in some cookies.  Skeptical, but strong in my faith of Martha's recipes, I decided to try them out. img_2473Here is what you need.

img_2474Mix the dry ingredients together.

img_2475Blend.

img_2479Mix the butter and sugar in an electric mixer.

img_24821Add eggs and vanilla.

img_2484Add the dry ingredients... slowly.

img_2487Don't overmix. This looks yummy.

img_2488Turn it out onto parchment paper (or wax).

img_2489Roll it into a log. Make a few poop jokes.

img_2493Roll it up and chuck it in the fridge overnight.

img_2527Spread out some sugar next to it the next morning.

img_2528Roll the log in it.

img_2529Slice 'er up.

img_2532Spread 'er out. Sprinkle with black pepper. Seriously. You'll like it. Pop them in the oven.

img_2534Take them out; transfer them to a cooling rack.

img_2536et, Viola!

These cookies turned out great.  I mean it. Absolutely fantastic.  The perfect accompaniment to tea or coffee.  Everyone who tried them liked them. They are going in my permanent repertoire! Thanks, Martha!

  2. i was able to try one of these cookies. i remember thinking: if little girls are made of "sugar, spice, and all things nice"... i want to be whatever girl this cookie represents: dark, sexy sweet edge, with a breath of spiced mocha
