From what I understand, the sauce in which these colossal shrimp swim is basically all butter - spiced in order to disguise it. Upon first bite, Taylor said, "This is my mom's shrimp manale." And, after doing a little snooping on the internet afterwards, it turns out the this technique (of head-on shrimp dredged in butter with garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika and bay leaves) originated from the restaurant Pascal's Manale. They even have this cutie pie logo.

But Deanie's were really fantastic. They served the dish with a hot baton of French bread that helped us sop up all of the delicious sauce. We also dunked the gratis potatoes that came instead of bread into the sauce. The potatoes had clearly been soaking up crawfish boil flavor for some time and so were naturally spiced, but dipped in the BBQ butter made them even better.

We couldn't exist on just that though and so ordered a crab remoulade to accompany the butterfest. The crab remoulade was also fantastic, if a little upstaged by the shrimpies.

If you don't feel like gaining an extra few pounds but don't mind up-ing your cholesterol levels, you could still have a great meal at Deanie's!
