Tribeca Grill

Usually, any of the Myriad Group restaurants are a little out of my price range, but an invite to join a friend and her family for dinner had me running down to SoHo for a Sunday dinner at Tribeca Grill. Feeling slightly under-dressed (the restaurant name is slightly misleading…), I sat down at a beautiful white table and was presented with a wine list the size of the Bible. To start, I ordered a fresh beat salad with whipped goat cheese and toasted hazelnuts, which was incredible, tangy and fresh. This was followed by their Garganelli Pasta, a play on the traditional Bolognese with a short rib and pancetta base, topped with a dollop of herbed ricotta and basil. Having spent a couple years in Italy, I’m a bit of a pasta snob. Don’t get me wrong, this pasta was great, but I’ve had short rib Bolognese that has made me want to cry. Among the group there was also roasted chicken with goat cheese mashed potatoes and minted peas, pan roasted halibut in a miso mushroom broth, and delicate raviolini with artichoke hearts, fava beans and cherry tomatoes. Everything was delicious.

If I return to Tribeca Grill any time soon, it will be for their prix fix-- $35 for three courses off an abbreviated regular menu. No big surprise, Tribeca Grill is yummy, and a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening!
